Saturday Log
Jason, I was inspired by talking with you on the phone the other day, and so I ran today to bring my weekly total to 5. Five is good I think. Today I ran 23:30, out Grand to Bridge st., East on Locust to Eastern and then back home via Duck Creek Trail. Somewhere around 3.0 miles. It was beautiful today and I felt strong but this is the most I've run in 5 years so I made it a shorter run for today. Tomorrow is my day off and then I will run for about 35 minutes on Monday, Tuesday will be my big day. I am shooting for 55 minutes. Don't have my route figured out yet but hopefully not too hilly, maybe along the Mississippi River.
I really enjoyed your comments Jason, I am so amazed at your strength of character, and completely jealous of how quickly you are able to lose weight. One of the reasons I wanted to do this blog thing was so that we could discuss various ideas about working out. What are your goals? I need to get more specific I think. Anyway, peace out for tonight.

You're 3.5 mile run encouraged me to stretch out my Sat. run to 3.5 miles from the usual 3 miles. I did it in just under 31 minutes, but it was tough. By my math that's about four full minutes slower than you'd run it.
Like I said the other night I run the same 2.25 miles five days a week so 3.5 miles is a stretch for me. The thought of a 55 minute run just makes me tired all over. That's a 7+ mile run. You're my hero.
I don't know that I've actually got a running goal as far as speed. I'm just tracking my times and distances to make sure I'm making improvement and pushing myself.
My goal is to weigh 180 lbs with 17% body fat by the beginning of January. That would mean a total loss since late August of 20 lbs with a 6.5% drop in body fat. I'm sure I can hit the weight number, but the body fat number will definately be a challenge.
To hit that goal I exercise six days a week, five days minimum. But since I don't love to run as much as you I'm trying to get some equipment together so I can start lifting.
I'm trying to focus more on the body fat than weight. According to what I've read a male in our age range is overfat if he's at 20% or above and hits obese at 25%. Healthy is considered anywhere under 20% down to 8%.
I got way too close to being clinically obese. I want to get as far as I can into that healthy range.

I am inspired and jealous not that you are able to lose weight easily, but that when you work hard you get the results. For me, I have to work twice as hard for half the results. It is really frustrating and discouraging sometimes, but incredibly motivating at other times. What it means in reality is taht I absolutely can't let myself slip, even for a week or two.
I haven't been able to lift weights for the past three weeks because my shoulder has been hurting, but I ran extra hard 4-5 times a week. I gained two pounds and went from 22% body fat to 24% body fat. That is the kind of crap that I am frustrated with. The solution might be to work out harder but I am getting to the point where I need to change my eating habits even further, let's talk on the phone sometime this week about diet.
