Saturday I went biking
The climb wasn’t a stress on my heart (mhr 165) but my legs were toast in the first half mile. The other three guys broke out ahead of me so I just started hiking. I like to blame it on my heavy full suspension bike, but I really need to strengthen my legs. I was suppose to due a two mile run as well, but I gave blood and had to finish my pine wood derby car for the Elder’s quorum party so I just went with the bike hike as good enough.
Last night I went out for my eight mile long run, and by the end of it my legs were quite tired. I think it was mostly left over from Saturday’s bike hike. My ahr was 161; low for me, and my time was exactly 10 minutes per mile. My routine says I should be at a 10:23 pace, but it just a little too slow. I think I’m doing what’s intended at a 10 minute pace.
Good news is I’ve now got a job. I’m starting at Nestle December 4. And the other good news is a won the pine wood derby. Funny thing was that I put about 25 minutes into the car and wouldn’t have even made one except I really felt I should support the guy hosting the party.
What’s up with you?

Woohoo! Did you have to decide between Countrywide and Nestle, or did the Countrywide offer fizzle out? Where is the Nestle office and how far is the commute? What hours will you work, what will you be doing? Just curious. You don't have to answer any of these question on the blog, I want to talk over the phone tomorrow if possible.
Great job on the long run, tomorrow is my long run as well. I did 7.5 or so last week and I intend to do 8 or 9 tomorrow depending on how my leg handles it. Last week I was able to maintain a 7:20 pace for the first 5 miles and then each mile got slower until the last half mile where I was able to focus and finish at a 6:20 pace. Wish I could have been there for hte bike ride, funny enough, I went mountain biking with some friends from the ward as well. Had a great time, not really cardiovascularly challenging, but very technical, more like one of those indoor fun parks for bikes, only outdoors. This place is on an island in the Mississippi where there was once an old steel foundry. The foundation are still present in many places and beams crisscross over small gullies. Jumps abound, and stairs and wall hops and one steep hill with a root jutting out. Anyway, I had fun but it wasn't quite as strenuous as your bike/hike. Then I got real sick in the afternoon and am just starting to feel better.
I had a great swim tonight and feel really positive about beginning in earnest my training for a new event. I just need to pick one and get started. Sorry for the excessively long post, but it has been a while since I have had a few extra minutes to spare. Talk to you tomorrow.
