You're so fast!
No links because I'm a wimp and ran indoors on the treadmill for Monday and today's five mile recovery runs. It's been cold and windy this week. It's 40 degrees outside right now and the wind chill has it down to 32.
Monday's treadmill run was much harder then I expected. I can now pretty easily knock out five miles at a 10:00 pace. But it was late so I had the slider shut, and the run quickly got long, hot, and boring. I was sweating steady by the end. My heart sat mostly in the 160 bpm, but did get up to 170 bpm at the end. Tonight I set up something to listen to, and ran early enough to keep the door open so it was a nice run.
I do get a little bummed that the mileage doesn't get into my training software. I'm still sitting at 198 miles right now and it should be up to 208 now.
Here's hoping that this training is going to get me a bit quicker. It's hard for me to imagine ever getting times like you doing these days, but I would like to get to paces at least as fast as your recovery runs.

It is easy to become a data junkie when you have such an amazing training tool. I know what you mean about cold and windy, the temp outside right now is feeling like 7 according to weather channel and the winds are gusting up to 20 mph. Got a cold two days ago and yesterday it developed into a full blown sinus infection so I did nothing yesterday or today. I am on amoxicillin now so if I am feeling better tomorrow and it hasn't moved into my lungs I will be running on the treadmill as well, slowly as well. Anyway, great swim on Tuesday night before the cold symptoms started. I did 3x100 @ 1:50, 3x100 @1:40, 700 with alternating 100 Free, 100 Breast. I am fat and slow, but it is still fun. I got weighed today at the doc's office, 197 pounds. Yikes. Granted, heavy shoes, jeans, and several layers of clothing on top, but I am still a few pouinds over 190. Heaviest in a long time. I just can't seem to get it under control this trimester. My sleep is horrible, I get sick every other week and I am watching too much tv at night instead of going to bed. Anyway, keep up the training schedule so you don't end up a sick slug like me.
Hey John, I'm really sorry to hear that you are so sick. Brayden came down with a flu bug and has been puking randomly and not eating much of anything (we assume it's because his stomach hurts, hence the puking). No fun to be sick. I hope you get well soon though and can get back to a better routine of sleep and such. This is the first posting I have read in a while so I should probably get to catching up, but I'm really glad to see the activity on the site. Maybe I will have to get running again so that I can post some data as well. :) Ok, really it is so that I can lose some weight and be able to fit into my old pants again if at all possible. Or maybe I should just stop eating like a pig with a sugar addiction. No time like the present to turn it around.
