Welcome Home Everyone
By now I think everyone is home or just about home. Sure was great to see you guys. As always I loved running with John while he was down here. Unfortunately we never really had a chance for all of us to get a run in.
Saturday morning I woke up before the rest of the house and decided to do 3.5 miles before the rest of the house got up. As I got to the fence 0.8 miles up the trail I decided I should run a single mile for time so I’d have a number for my 35th birthday. I rested for a second then took off down the trail. My one mile time was 6:51. I had run almost a mile before I decide to run for time and it was probably in the high seventies, but I was also running down hill the whole time.
Reviewing my heart rate I may have been able to push just a bit harder and drop a couple seconds, but basically that was as hard as I could push. My heart rate was at 189 bpm by 0.4 mile and inched up to 192 bpm by the end.

I agree, that was a lot of fun. Lifting weights was a blast too. It is amazing how much easier it is when you have somebody you enjoy working out with. Good job on your mile time, keep up the good work. I will post my Thursday results a little bit later on. Mike, we need to figure out when I am coming to help. John
Way to go guys! You both broke minute barriers. I'm with Jason on the 7 though, we'll leave the 6 for you John. I really don't know that I have any hope of breaking 6 again.
I did finally get out and run again today. I ran on the indoor track and did 3.5 miles. The overall average was 8:12. My half mile lap times were 4:25 (warmup), 3:49, 3:54 (light first mile), 3:26 (going for a sub-7 mile), 4:51 (thought I was going to die so I did a cool-down lap), 3:30 (really wanted to finish out the fast mile), and 4:46 (cool down). I really wanted to break 7, but couldn't quite do it continuously. If you pretend I didn't take a cool-down lap in the middle I hit 6:56 though. :) Maybe in a couple weeks after I have been running regularly for a while I will give it a shot again. I really haven't been running in a month or two. I guess that means I can't change my name from Slacker yet then, can I. The exciting thing for me was that after my run I weighed myself and hit 177.8. I haven't been that low in a while. I have been weighing in consistently at 183 or so for the past month since my vacation season began. So that is good news I guess. I would really like to be back under 175 consistently for the rest of my life. I think it helps that I cut the sugar/candy out of my diet last week. Now if only I could give up pizza. Nope, not willing to do it. Oh well. I guess I will just have to skim back on the ice cream instead. Sure love you guys. I'll plan on being back on here more consistently as I have times/weights to post.
