Wed & Thurs
Upped my weight for Wednesday’s lower body lift. Tried to make sure that my final set for each lift was to failure with good form. I hate it when I get to my final lift for a muscle group and do 12 and then 13, 14, or more before failure. It was a little tough w/o a spot. Kristi decided she’d let me workout solo since it goes faster that way. Read; she didn’t want to get out of bed at 5:30 am.
So as I climbed into bed last night I knew I’d have sore legs this morning. Consequently I made sure to get a good stretch in before starting. But that didn’t really save me. In the end some days are as much about hanging in there as they are the number. I wanted to cut it to 2.0 miles, but made myself keep going until I matched Tuesday’s time. At the end I hit 200 bpm. Normally when I see that number in the memory as I review I write it off a bad number. Today I fully believed it. My last quarter mile I was actually feeling nauseated. My heart rate dropped quickly for my cool down so in the end I averaged 175 bpm just like Tuesday. Just goes to show how miss leading numbers can be. Same distance; same time; same average heart rate; and nearly the same max, but today’s run was very different. Today’s run was much harder.
When you guys come out here this summer I’ll have to show you some stuff “outside of town.” Believe it or not you can get outside of LA pretty quickly. Of course I won’t be able to offer you a job, but don’t let Christy write SoCal of too fast.

Agreed. I would really like that actually, and hopefully it will make an impression on Christy as well. I don't want to push her too hard or she will back off entirely. That is what we both do when pushed in to the proverbial corner. It then become a personal issue, just for the sake of not giving in.
I am glad you posted your workout, and I agree, numbers can be misleading. That was a perfect example and I agree completely. Great job for pushing through and finishing strong. I did a leg workout today as well, then ran 2.75 miles, 20:06, ahr 150, mhr 161. My pace would be, ummmm, 7:18, but that is misleading as well. My time seems decent and my heart rate was low, but I was cruising along at 8.5 mph for the first two miles and then lost it big time and had to slow down to 8.0 and then a little bit more and finally at 2.75 I called it quits. I had no legs left.
I had a decent swim this evening considering I was exhausted, 2 x 300 yards, and a couple warm-up laps. THen I went and played basketball at church for about an hour and a half. Now I am wiped out but happy, going to bed is going to feel great. See what I have left for tomorrow, maybe a day off from running? I need to lift arms and do my abs again, but perhaps just a small bike ride tomorrow to loosen up my legs, which are already sore. Catch you tomorrow then. Out.
